"All around the world, statues crumble for me." -Sugar Ray

After class and breakfast at a cafe, I spent the whole whole whole day in the Louvre. I went with Emily, Melissa, Rachel and MacCord, but we kind of wandered around solo for a while. It was amazing to see things in real life that I have been studying for years and years. Some were incredible, some were disappointing (hem hem, the Mona Lisa).
I loved the rooms with all the marble statues so much. The ceilings in these rooms are made of glass and with an overcast sky the lighting was exquisite. Emily and I wanted so badly to touch one of the statues and all day we were searching for a secret little opportunity to do just that (because it is forbidden obviously). In a corner of one room there was a statue of a beautiful, chubby woman. We didn't see any guards and we were out of sight so I seized the opportunity to reach out and run my hand along her smooth, cold, marble thigh. Bad idea. Out of nowhere "Mademoiselle! Ne touchez pas!" My hand was pulled away from the statue and I was scolded. (It was TOTALLY worth it).

More than anything, I just loved the building itself. It's beautiful. I spent a good part of the day trying to find the room where Tom Hanks finds the naked dead guy, I think I found it but I'm going to have to watch the movie again to be sure.

After the museum, Rachel and I went to one of our favorite patisseries and bought Macaroons. I love the rose and lavender flavored ones. They really taste like flowers! And they are such beautiful colors.
We came home just in time to avoid a huge huge rainstorm (happening now) and now we are going to have dinner with our family, and then watch the Shining in this wonderful storm.

"Hold me."

Emily, me, "Winged Victory." My favorite statue ever. Maybe my favorite piece in the place.

She is such a work of art. Oh yeah, that statue with wings is really cool too.

You're not my dream girl. Bored.

Viva la vida...I mean la France

Rachel and I in the beautiful statue room.

Yum.
